Description
Deliciously crispy air fryer churro bites with a soft doughy center, coated in cinnamon sugar for a healthier treat.
Ingredients
- 1 cup plain flour
- 1 cup water
- 1/3 cup + 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla essence
- 1 large egg
- 1 cup white sugar
- 1 tablespoon cinnamon powder
Instructions
- In a medium saucepan, combine water, butter, salt, and sugar over high heat. Bring to a boil.
- Reduce heat and add flour gradually, stirring until dough pulls away from the pan.
- Remove from heat and cool for 4-5 minutes in a mixing bowl.
- Add egg and vanilla to dough, mixing with an electric hand mixer until smooth.
- Transfer dough to a piping bag and preheat air fryer to 375°F (190°C), greasing the basket.
- Pipe bite-sized pieces into the basket, leaving space between each piece.
- Brush churros with melted butter and cook for 10-12 minutes until golden brown.
- Mix sugar and cinnamon in a shallow bowl.
- Toss cooked churros in the cinnamon-sugar mixture and serve warm with dips.
Notes
Experiment with flavorings like orange zest and serve with various dips such as chocolate or caramel.
