A quick and flavorful one-pan pasta dish featuring sticky honey garlic sauce and sausage, perfect for a hassle-free meal.
Ingredients
- 12 oz (340 g) pasta (penne, rigatoni, or any short pasta)
- 1 lb (450 g) sausage, sliced (Italian sausage, smoked sausage, or your choice)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup (60 ml) honey
- 1/4 cup (60 ml) soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
- 1/2 cup (120 ml) chicken broth (or vegetable broth)
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Grated Parmesan cheese, for serving (optional)
Instructions
- Cook the pasta according to the package instructions, salting the water generously. Drain, reserving 1/2 cup of pasta water.
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Brown the sliced sausage for 5 to 7 minutes, then transfer to a plate and keep warm.
- In the same skillet, sauté minced garlic for 30 seconds to 1 minute. Add honey, soy sauce, and apple cider vinegar, stirring until smooth. Add chicken broth and bring to a simmer for 2 to 3 minutes.
- Add browned sausage back to skillet and simmer for 3 to 4 minutes. Combine the pasta with the sausage and sauce, adding reserved pasta water if needed. Stir in butter until creamy.
- Adjust seasoning with salt and pepper, garnish with parsley, and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese if desired.
Notes
Can substitute pasta or sausage with alternatives like chicken, chickpeas, or different types of pasta. Honey can be replaced with maple syrup.
