Description

A comforting slow-cooked beef stroganoff that is easy to prepare and full of rich flavors, perfect for busy days.

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds beef stew meat
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 8 ounces mushrooms, sliced (optional)
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • Egg noodles (to serve)

Instructions

  1. In a slow cooker, combine the beef stew meat, onion, garlic, mushrooms, beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and black pepper.
  2. Cover and cook on low for 480 minutes (8 hours) or high for 240 minutes (4 hours), until the beef is tender.
  3. In a small bowl, mix cornstarch with a bit of water to create a slurry and stir this into the slow cooker during the last 30 minutes of cooking.
  4. Once done, stir in the sour cream until fully incorporated.
  5. Serve over cooked egg noodles.

Notes

For a creamier finish, do not skip the sour cream step. Make sure to let it cook long enough for the best flavor and tenderness.
