Description

Quick and flavorful Mongolian-inspired ground beef noodles made in one skillet.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 5 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup beef broth
  • 1/3 cup soy sauce
  • 3 tablespoons hoisin sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • Pinch of red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 10 oz linguine
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 4 green onions, sliced for garnish

Instructions

  1. Cook the noodles: Bring a pot of salted water to a boil and cook the linguine according to package instructions. Once cooked, drain and set aside.
  2. Brown that beef: Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Cook the ground beef until browned. Drain any excess fat.
  3. Garlic time: Add the minced garlic to the browned beef and cook for about a minute.
  4. Mix in all the goodness: Stir in the brown sugar, beef broth, soy sauce, hoisin sauce, ground ginger, black pepper, and optional red pepper flakes.
  5. Make a slurry: In a small bowl, mix cornstarch with water. Add this mixture to the skillet and stir until sauce thickens, about 2-3 minutes.
  6. Noodles meet sauce: Add the cooked linguine to the skillet and toss until well-coated with sauce.
  7. Garnish and serve: Sprinkle sliced green onions on top and serve hot.

Notes

Feel free to substitute ground beef with ground turkey or chicken for a healthier option. Add veggies like bell peppers or broccoli for extra crunch.
