Description

A delicious mashup of mac and cheese and meatloaf, perfect for a comforting meal that’s easy to make.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 2 cups uncooked macaroni
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup diced onion
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp pepper
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp dry mustard
  • 2 tbsp flour


Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, onion, breadcrumbs, egg, milk, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
  3. Press the meat mixture into a greased baking dish.
  4. Bake the meatloaf for 20 minutes.
  5. While it bakes, cook the macaroni according to package directions; drain and set aside.
  6. For the cheese sauce, melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat.
  7. Stir in the flour and cook for one minute.
  8. Gradually whisk in the milk until thickened.
  9. Season the cheese sauce with salt, pepper, paprika, and dry mustard.
  10. Stir in the shredded cheese until melted.
  11. Combine the cooked macaroni with the cheese sauce.
  12. Pour the macaroni and cheese over the baked meatloaf layer.
  13. Top with remaining cheese.
  14. Bake for an additional 25 minutes or until bubbly.
