Description

A healthier, air-fried version of the classic Hungarian street food, Langos, featuring a crispy outside and soft, pillowy inside, perfect for sharing.

Ingredients

  • 500 g all-purpose flour (Type 550)
  • 250 ml lukewarm water
  • 1 packet dry yeast (7 g)
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • Herbs of your choice (such as oregano or rosemary)
  • Lemon juice (to taste)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine lukewarm water with sugar and dry yeast. Let it rest for about 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. Add sifted flour, salt, and vegetable oil to the yeast mixture.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface until smooth, roughly 10 minutes.
  4. Place the dough in an oiled bowl, cover it, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, until doubled in size.
  5. Punch down the risen dough and transfer it to a floured surface. Divide into about 8 equal pieces.
  6. Roll each piece into a round disc about 1 cm thick.
  7. Preheat the air fryer to 180 degrees Celsius.
  8. Place the Langos in batches in the air fryer basket and air fry for approximately 10-12 minutes until golden brown.
  9. Remove the hot Langos and sprinkle with fresh herbs or a squeeze of lemon juice before serving.

Notes

For best results, ensure that the water is lukewarm for activating the yeast, and don’t rush the rising process for fluffy results.
