Description
A striking and delicious appetizer featuring mozzarella skulls, roasted cherry tomatoes, and black pesto for your Halloween gatherings.
Ingredients
- 6 ounces fresh mozzarella pearls
- 1 demi baguette
- ½ cup basil pesto
- Gel food coloring (black)
- 12 ounces cherry tomatoes
- Olive oil
- Salt
- Black pepper
- Red pepper flakes
- Fresh basil
- Balsamic vinegar glaze
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F and place the silicone skull mold on a baking sheet.
- Fill the molds with mozzarella pearls and bake for 6 to 7 minutes until melted.
- Press melted mozzarella into molds and let cool.
- Raise oven temperature to 475°F, halve cherry tomatoes, and place cut side down on a baking sheet.
- Drizzle tomatoes with olive oil and season with salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes. Roast for 10 to 15 minutes.
- Slice the baguette into ½-inch pieces and toast in the oven for 8 to 10 minutes.
- Mix pesto with black food coloring to desired shade.
- Spread black pesto on toasted bread, return to oven for another 8 to 10 minutes until edges are golden.
- Top each piece of bread with roasted tomatoes and mozzarella skulls.
- Serve on a platter drizzled with balsamic glaze and garnish with fresh basil.
