Description

Delicious Swedish meatballs simmered in a creamy sauce, perfect for family dinners or casual lunches.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 pound ground pork
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon allspice
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 2 tablespoons flour

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, ground pork, breadcrumbs, onion, milk, egg, salt, pepper, nutmeg, and allspice. Mix until well combined.
  2. Shape the mixture into small meatballs, about 1 inch in diameter.
  3. In a large skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add meatballs and cook until browned on all sides.
  4. Once meatballs are browned, remove from the pan and set aside.
  5. In the same pan, add flour and cook for 1 minute. Gradually stir in beef broth and bring to a simmer.
  6. Return meatballs to the pan and simmer for 15 minutes.
  7. Stir in sour cream and adjust seasoning if necessary. Serve warm.

Notes

Serve over mashed potatoes, rice, or with lingonberry sauce for a complete meal.
