Description
Delicious Swedish meatballs simmered in a creamy sauce, perfect for family dinners or casual lunches.
Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1/2 pound ground pork
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/2 teaspoon allspice
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 cup sour cream
- 2 tablespoons flour
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine ground beef, ground pork, breadcrumbs, onion, milk, egg, salt, pepper, nutmeg, and allspice. Mix until well combined.
- Shape the mixture into small meatballs, about 1 inch in diameter.
- In a large skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add meatballs and cook until browned on all sides.
- Once meatballs are browned, remove from the pan and set aside.
- In the same pan, add flour and cook for 1 minute. Gradually stir in beef broth and bring to a simmer.
- Return meatballs to the pan and simmer for 15 minutes.
- Stir in sour cream and adjust seasoning if necessary. Serve warm.
Notes
Serve over mashed potatoes, rice, or with lingonberry sauce for a complete meal.
