Description

A delicious and simple dish of chicken thighs cooked in a savory soy garlic sauce, perfect for busy weeknight dinners.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb boneless skinless chicken thighs
  • 3 tbsp potato starch
  • 3 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 3 tbsp neutral oil for pan frying
  • 8 cloves of garlic (minced)
  • 2 stalks green onion (green and white parts separated)
  • 1 tsp red chili flakes
  • 1/2 cup chicken stock (or substitute with water and chicken bouillon)
  • 3 tbsp honey
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tbsp dark soy sauce
  • 1 tsp cornstarch
  • Green onion (green part) for garnish
  • Sesame seeds for garnish

Instructions

  1. Combine all sauce ingredients in a bowl, mix well, and set aside.
  2. Dry the chicken thighs with a paper towel and mix potato starch, flour, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper on a plate. Lightly coat chicken with the mixture.
  3. Heat enough oil in a frying pan over medium-high heat to cover the bottom. Fry the chicken thighs until golden brown, about 7 minutes per side, then set aside.
  4. Add minced garlic, the white part of green onion, and red chili flakes to the pan. Sauté for 3 minutes until golden brown.
  5. Add the sauce to the pan and cook for 1 minute until it thickens.
  6. Return the chicken to the pan and cook for an additional 5 minutes or until covered in the glossy sauce.
  7. Serve hot, garnished with sliced green onions and sesame seeds.

Notes

For extra flavor, consider marinating the chicken thighs in the sauce for 30 minutes before cooking. For a gluten-free version, use gluten-free soy sauce and flour alternatives.
