Description

A comforting and easy-to-make smothered chicken recipe, featuring chicken thighs or breasts in a creamy sauce.

Ingredients

  • 4 chicken thighs or breasts
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Season the chicken with salt and pepper, then brown on both sides for about 5 minutes each.
  2. Remove chicken from the skillet and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, add chopped onion and minced garlic. Sauté until onions are translucent.
  4. Stir in flour and cook for 1-2 minutes to form a roux.
  5. Gradually whisk in milk and chicken broth, ensuring no lumps remain.
  6. Return chicken to the skillet, cover, and reduce heat to low. Simmer for 20-25 minutes until the chicken is cooked through and the gravy has thickened.
  7. Serve hot, garnished with fresh parsley.

Notes

The dish tastes even better the next day. Pair with mashed potatoes or rice for a complete meal.
