Description
A classic Beef Stroganoff with tender beef in a rich, creamy sauce, perfect for any dinner table.
Ingredients
- 1 pound beef sirloin, sliced into thin strips
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 8 ounces mushrooms, sliced
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 cup sour cream
- 2 tablespoons flour
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Egg noodles or mashed potatoes for serving
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the sliced beef and cook until browned. Remove beef from skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add chopped onions and minced garlic. Sauté until onions become translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
- Add sliced mushrooms and cook until tender, around 5 minutes.
- Sprinkle flour over mushrooms, mix, then gradually add beef broth, stirring continuously until sauce thickens.
- Reduce heat and stir in sour cream until well blended.
- Return beef to the skillet and heat through, seasoning with salt and pepper to taste.
- Serve over cooked egg noodles or mashed potatoes.
Notes
For a healthier dish, you can use low-fat sour cream or serve with whole wheat noodles.
