Enjoy a healthier take on the classic chicken parmesan, featuring a crispy air fried coating and gooey melted cheese.
Ingredients
- 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 cup marinara sauce
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- Cooking spray or olive oil
Instructions
- Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C).
- In a bowl, combine breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.
- Coat each chicken breast in the breadcrumb mixture, pressing firmly to adhere.
- Spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray or lightly coat with olive oil.
- Place the chicken breasts in the basket and spray the tops with additional cooking spray.
- Air fry for 12-15 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the chicken is cooked through and crispy.
- During the last 2 minutes of cooking, spoon marinara sauce over each chicken breast and sprinkle with mozzarella cheese.
- Allow the cheese to melt, then remove from the air fryer and serve hot.
Notes
For extra crispiness, consider double-dipping the chicken in beaten eggs before the breadcrumb coating.
