Description

A quick and creamy dish of tortellini and steak infused with garlic and spices.


Ingredients

  • 20 oz cheese tortellini
  • 1 lb steak (sirloin or ribeye)
  • Salt
  • Black pepper
  • Garlic powder
  • Smoked paprika
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 4 tbsp butter
  • 5 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 3/4 cup whole milk
  • 1 1/4 cups parmesan, shredded or freshly grated
  • Parsley, chopped (optional)
  • Red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Cracked black pepper (optional garnish)


Instructions

  1. In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil and toss in the cheese tortellini. Cook according to package instructions until they float. Drain and set aside.
  2. Season the steak generously with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and smoked paprika.
  3. In a large skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium-high heat and sear the steak for about 4-5 minutes on each side until browned.
  4. Transfer the steak to a plate and let it rest for 5-10 minutes.
  5. In the same skillet, lower heat to medium, add butter and garlic, and sauté until fragrant.
  6. Pour in heavy cream and whole milk, stirring until well combined. Let simmer for a couple of minutes.
  7. Gradually whisk in parmesan until it melts into the sauce.
  8. Toss in the cooked tortellini and stir to coat in the sauce. Add red pepper flakes if desired.
  9. Slice the rested steak into thin strips and serve on top of the tortellini.
  10. Garnish with parsley and cracked black pepper before serving.

Notes

Let the sauce simmer for a bit for the best flavor and texture. Feel free to substitute ingredients based on dietary preferences.
