A rich and creamy soup blending the flavors of crab and shrimp with vegetables, perfect for cozy evenings or impressing guests.
Ingredients
- 1 pound crab meat
- 1 pound shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 1 cup onion, chopped
- 1 cup celery, chopped
- 1 cup carrots, chopped
- 4 cups seafood stock
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 2 tablespoons flour
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 teaspoon thyme
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh parsley for garnish
Instructions
- In a large pot, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the onion, celery, and carrots, and sauté until soft.
- Sprinkle the flour over the vegetables and stir for about 2 minutes.
- Gradually whisk in the seafood stock, bringing the mixture to a simmer.
- Add the crab and shrimp, cooking until the shrimp turn pink.
- Stir in the heavy cream and thyme, and season with salt and pepper.
- Simmer the bisque for another 10 minutes.
- Serve hot, garnished with fresh parsley.
Notes
For added flavor, consider using homemade seafood stock. You can also adjust the thickness of the bisque by altering the amount of heavy cream.
