Description

A simple and delicious dish featuring tender chicken breasts smothered in barbecue sauce, topped with melted cheddar cheese and crispy bacon.


Ingredients

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 8 slices bacon
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup barbecue sauce
  • 1/4 cup green onions, chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)


Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a large skillet, cook the bacon over medium heat until crispy, about 5-7 minutes. Remove from the skillet and drain.
  3. Crumble the bacon and set aside.
  4. Rub both sides of each chicken breast with olive oil.
  5. Sprinkle the garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper over both sides of each chicken breast.
  6. Heat a large oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat. Add the chicken breasts and cook for 4-5 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  7. Reduce heat to medium, pour barbecue sauce evenly over the chicken, and cover with cheddar cheese and crumbled bacon.
  8. Transfer the skillet to the oven and bake for 10-12 minutes until the chicken is cooked through and the cheese is melted.
  9. Sprinkle chopped green onions on top before serving.
  10. Allow the chicken to rest for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

Be sure to preheat the oven and cook bacon until crispy. You can substitute chicken thighs for breasts or use different cheeses as desired.
