Description
A simple and delicious dish featuring tender chicken breasts smothered in barbecue sauce, topped with melted cheddar cheese and crispy bacon.
Ingredients
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 8 slices bacon
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup barbecue sauce
- 1/4 cup green onions, chopped
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- In a large skillet, cook the bacon over medium heat until crispy, about 5-7 minutes. Remove from the skillet and drain.
- Crumble the bacon and set aside.
- Rub both sides of each chicken breast with olive oil.
- Sprinkle the garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper over both sides of each chicken breast.
- Heat a large oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat. Add the chicken breasts and cook for 4-5 minutes on each side until golden brown.
- Reduce heat to medium, pour barbecue sauce evenly over the chicken, and cover with cheddar cheese and crumbled bacon.
- Transfer the skillet to the oven and bake for 10-12 minutes until the chicken is cooked through and the cheese is melted.
- Sprinkle chopped green onions on top before serving.
- Allow the chicken to rest for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
Be sure to preheat the oven and cook bacon until crispy. You can substitute chicken thighs for breasts or use different cheeses as desired.
