Description

A rich and creamy beef stroganoff featuring tender beef strips, perfect for a cozy night in, served over noodles, rice, or polenta.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb beef sirloin (sliced into strips)
  • 1 medium onion (chopped)
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 8 oz mushrooms (sliced)
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Cooked noodles, rice, or polenta (for serving)

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the beef strips and cook until browned. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
  2. In the same skillet, add the chopped onions and sauté until translucent. Then add the minced garlic and sliced mushrooms and cook until the mushrooms are tender.
  3. Sprinkle the flour over the mixture and stir well, then gradually pour in the beef broth while stirring constantly until the sauce thickens.
  4. Lower the heat and stir in the sour cream. Return the beef to the skillet and mix everything together until heated through.
  5. Season with salt and pepper, then serve hot over cooked noodles, rice, or polenta.

Notes

For a lighter version, substitute sour cream with Greek yogurt. You can also use chicken or pork as alternatives to beef.
