Description
A rich and creamy beef stroganoff featuring tender beef strips, perfect for a cozy night in, served over noodles, rice, or polenta.
Ingredients
- 1 lb beef sirloin (sliced into strips)
- 1 medium onion (chopped)
- 2 cloves garlic (minced)
- 8 oz mushrooms (sliced)
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 cup sour cream
- 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Cooked noodles, rice, or polenta (for serving)
Instructions
- In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the beef strips and cook until browned. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add the chopped onions and sauté until translucent. Then add the minced garlic and sliced mushrooms and cook until the mushrooms are tender.
- Sprinkle the flour over the mixture and stir well, then gradually pour in the beef broth while stirring constantly until the sauce thickens.
- Lower the heat and stir in the sour cream. Return the beef to the skillet and mix everything together until heated through.
- Season with salt and pepper, then serve hot over cooked noodles, rice, or polenta.
Notes
For a lighter version, substitute sour cream with Greek yogurt. You can also use chicken or pork as alternatives to beef.
