Description

Soft and festive Christmas Sugar Cookies that pay homage to Crumbl, perfect for holiday gatherings and creating memories.


Ingredients

  • 270 g (2¼ cups) all-purpose flour
  • 4 g (1 tsp) baking powder
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 170 g (1½ sticks / ¾ cup) unsalted butter, softened
  • 200 g (1 cup) granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg, room temperature
  • 1 Tbsp vanilla extract
  • ¼ tsp almond extract (optional)
  • 54 g (⅓ cup) Christmas jimmies sprinkles
  • 283 g (1¼ bricks / 10 oz) full-fat cream cheese, softened
  • 184 g (13 Tbsp) salted butter, softened
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • ⅛ tsp salt
  • 150 g (1¼ cups) powdered sugar, sifted
  • 80 ml (⅓ cup) heavy cream, very cold
  • 24 g (2 Tbsp) Christmas sprinkles (jimmies, nonpareils, trees, etc.)


Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a stand mixer, beat softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add the egg, vanilla extract, and optional almond extract. Mix until combined.
  5. Gradually add dry ingredients to the butter mixture and mix until just combined.
  6. Fold in the Christmas jimmies sprinkles.
  7. Scoop dough into balls and place them on the baking sheets, leaving space in between.
  8. Slightly flatten each dough ball.
  9. Bake for 9-11 minutes until edges are set and tops are soft.
  10. Reshape cookies into circles right after baking.
  11. Let cookies cool on baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
  12. Prepare the frosting by beating cream cheese and salted butter until smooth.
  13. Add vanilla extract and salt; then mix in the powdered sugar.
  14. Gradually drizzle in heavy cream and beat until stiff peaks form.
  15. Pipe or spread frosting on cookies and add festive sprinkles before serving.

Notes

Store cookies in an airtight container for up to 5 days. For longer storage, refrigerate for 3-4 days or freeze for up to 2 months.
