Description
A comforting dish with tender chicken, earthy mushrooms, and a rich, creamy sauce perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients
- 1 lb chicken breast (thinly sliced)
- 2 cups fresh mushrooms (sliced)
- 1 medium onion (finely chopped)
- 2 cloves garlic (minced)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 cup chicken broth
- 1 cup sour cream
- Salt and pepper (to taste)
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- Fresh parsley (chopped, for garnish)
- Cooked egg noodles or rice (for serving)
Instructions
- In a large skillet, heat the olive oil and butter over medium heat.
- Add the thinly sliced chicken breast in a single layer, cooking for 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add the finely chopped onion and minced garlic. Cook for 3-4 minutes until the onion becomes soft and translucent.
- Next, add the sliced mushrooms to the skillet. Cook for an additional 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Sprinkle the flour over the mushroom mixture and stir well to coat everything evenly. Cook for about a minute.
- Gradually pour in the chicken broth while stirring continuously. Allow the mixture to come to a gentle simmer.
- Add the browned chicken back to the skillet and simmer for 10 minutes to meld the flavors together.
- Remove from heat and stir in the sour cream and paprika. Mix until the sauce is smooth and creamy.
- Serve over cooked egg noodles or rice, garnished with fresh parsley.
Notes
For a vegetarian version, replace chicken with hearty vegetables or tofu. Store leftovers in airtight containers for 3-4 days or freeze for up to 2 months.
