These spooky brain cupcakes are perfect for Halloween, featuring a rich chocolate flavor and a creepy design that kids and adults will love.
Ingredients
- 1 box of chocolate cake mix
- 1/2 cup of vegetable oil
- 3 eggs
- 1 cup of water
- 1 can of vanilla frosting
- Red food coloring
- Chocolate syrup
- Decorative eyeball candies (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to the temperature indicated on the cake mix box.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the cake mix, vegetable oil, eggs, and water. Mix until well combined.
- Pour the batter into cupcake liners in a muffin tin, filling each about 2/3 full.
- Bake according to the box instructions or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- Once cooled, frost each cupcake with vanilla frosting.
- To create the brain effect, use a piping bag to pipe the frosting in a swirling pattern on top of the cupcakes.
- Add a few drops of red food coloring around the edges for a ‘bloody’ effect and drizzle chocolate syrup if desired.
- Top with decorative eyeball candies if using.
- Serve and enjoy your creepy brain cupcakes!
Notes
For a stronger chocolate flavor, you can add chocolate chips to the batter. Make sure not to overfill the cupcake liners to prevent overflowing while baking. Decorate the cupcakes as soon as they are cooled for easier frosting.
