Description
A bold and spicy taco pizza that combines the comfort of pizza with the vibrant flavors of taco night, perfect for gatherings or weeknight dinners.
Ingredients
- 1 cup warm water
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 pound ground beef or ground turkey
- 1 packet taco seasoning
- 1/2 cup refried beans (optional)
- 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese (or Mexican blend)
- 1 cup diced tomatoes
- 1 cup shredded lettuce
- 1/2 cup sliced black olives
- 1/2 cup diced onions
- sliced jalapeños (to taste)
- 1/2 cup sour cream or Greek yogurt
- salsa or guacamole (for topping)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 475°F (245°C). In a bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let sit until frothy (5-10 mins).
- Add flour, salt, and olive oil; knead until smooth (5-7 mins). Let rise in a greased bowl for 1 hour.
- Cook ground beef in a skillet until browned. Drain, stir in taco seasoning and water; simmer for 5 mins.
- Punch down the dough and roll it out to 1/4 inch thick. Place in a greased baking dish.
- Spread refried beans on the dough, layer with seasoned ground beef, and sprinkle with cheese.
- Bake for 12-15 mins until crust is golden and cheese is bubbly.
- Cool for 5 mins, then top with tomatoes, lettuce, olives, onions, jalapeños, sour cream, and salsa or guacamole.
Notes
Refrigerate leftovers in an airtight container for 3-4 days. For freezing, wrap in plastic wrap and aluminum foil; freeze for up to 2 months.
