Description

A rich and comforting beef stroganoff with tender beef, savory mushrooms, and a creamy sauce served over egg noodles or rice.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb beef sirloin, thinly sliced
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cups mushrooms, sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Cooked egg noodles or rice for serving


Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the sliced beef and sear until browned, about 5-7 minutes. Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside.
  2. In the same skillet, add the chopped onions and sliced mushrooms. Sauté until the onions become translucent and the mushrooms turn a nice shade of brown, about 5-6 minutes.
  3. Add the minced garlic and sprinkle the flour over the sautéed mixture. Stir well for about one minute.
  4. Gradually stir in the beef broth and Worcestershire sauce, and bring to a gentle simmer.
  5. Return the beef to the skillet and let it simmer for 3-5 minutes.
  6. Remove from heat and carefully stir in the sour cream. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  7. Serve over cooked egg noodles or rice.

Notes

For optimal creaminess, add sour cream just before serving.
