Description
A rich and comforting beef stroganoff with tender beef, savory mushrooms, and a creamy sauce served over egg noodles or rice.
Ingredients
- 1 lb beef sirloin, thinly sliced
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cups mushrooms, sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 cup sour cream
- 2 tbsp flour
- 2 tbsp butter
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Cooked egg noodles or rice for serving
Instructions
- In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the sliced beef and sear until browned, about 5-7 minutes. Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add the chopped onions and sliced mushrooms. Sauté until the onions become translucent and the mushrooms turn a nice shade of brown, about 5-6 minutes.
- Add the minced garlic and sprinkle the flour over the sautéed mixture. Stir well for about one minute.
- Gradually stir in the beef broth and Worcestershire sauce, and bring to a gentle simmer.
- Return the beef to the skillet and let it simmer for 3-5 minutes.
- Remove from heat and carefully stir in the sour cream. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Serve over cooked egg noodles or rice.
Notes
For optimal creaminess, add sour cream just before serving.
