Description

Deliciously fun Bat Cupcakes, perfect for Halloween or any spooky-themed party, featuring a hidden fruit jam or Nutella surprise.


Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1/2 cup fruit jam (or Nutella)
  • Chocolate frosting (for decoration)


Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a muffin tin with cupcake liners.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, beat the butter until creamy. Add the eggs one at a time, then add vanilla and buttermilk.
  4. Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just combined.
  5. Fill each cupcake liner halfway with batter. Add a teaspoon of jam (or Nutella) in the center, then cover with more batter.
  6. Bake for about 18-20 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. Cool completely before frosting with chocolate frosting.
  8. Decorate as desired for Halloween.

Notes

Use room temperature ingredients for better mixing. Don’t overmix the batter to keep the cupcakes fluffy.
