A hearty and comforting Amish classic, this Hamburger Steak Bake is easy to make with just a few simple ingredients, perfect for a quick dinner.
Ingredients
- 2 lbs Ground beef (80/20 blend)
- 1/2 cup Breadcrumbs
- 1 Egg (beaten)
- 1 Onion (finely diced)
- 2 tsp Salt
- 1 tsp Black pepper
- 3 tbsp Butter
- 3 tbsp All-purpose flour
- 2 cups Beef broth
- 1 cup Heavy cream
- 1 Onion (sliced)
- 1 tsp Garlic powder
Instructions
- In a large bowl, gently mix ground beef, breadcrumbs, beaten egg, diced onion, salt, and pepper.
- Form the mixture into 6 to 8 oval-shaped patties and set aside.
- In an oven-safe skillet, brown the patties on medium heat for about 3 to 4 minutes on each side until golden.
- Remove patties and sauté sliced onions in butter until soft.
- Sprinkle in flour and stir for about 2 minutes; whisk in broth and cream until smooth.
- Nestle patties into the gravy, cover, and bake at 350°F for 45 minutes.
- Uncover and bake for an additional 15 minutes.
- Remove from oven and let rest for 10 minutes before serving.

Feel free to experiment with ingredients like ground turkey for a healthier option or add more veggies for extra flavor.
