Description

A hearty and comforting Amish classic, this Hamburger Steak Bake is easy to make with just a few simple ingredients, perfect for a quick dinner.


Ingredients

  • 2 lbs Ground beef (80/20 blend)
  • 1/2 cup Breadcrumbs
  • 1 Egg (beaten)
  • 1 Onion (finely diced)
  • 2 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Black pepper
  • 3 tbsp Butter
  • 3 tbsp All-purpose flour
  • 2 cups Beef broth
  • 1 cup Heavy cream
  • 1 Onion (sliced)
  • 1 tsp Garlic powder


Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, gently mix ground beef, breadcrumbs, beaten egg, diced onion, salt, and pepper.
  2. Form the mixture into 6 to 8 oval-shaped patties and set aside.
  3. In an oven-safe skillet, brown the patties on medium heat for about 3 to 4 minutes on each side until golden.
  4. Remove patties and sauté sliced onions in butter until soft.
  5. Sprinkle in flour and stir for about 2 minutes; whisk in broth and cream until smooth.
  6. Nestle patties into the gravy, cover, and bake at 350°F for 45 minutes.
  7. Uncover and bake for an additional 15 minutes.
  8. Remove from oven and let rest for 10 minutes before serving.
